The Principals Corner

Therefore encourage one another

and build each other up,

just as in fact you are doing.  1Thessalonians 5:11

In this letter to the Thessalonians, Paul has reminded them of the hope they have in the resurrection of Christ. He cautions them to be prepared at all times for His return and gives them practical advice for Christian living.  Encouraging one another is one such piece of advice.

As we near the end of the Lenten season and look forward to the celebration of Easter and all the activities that typically accompany a holiday, it is easy to miss or overlook the needs of others.  Think of a time when an encouraging word changed your life. Look around you.  Do you see others who are working hard to make things better for you?  Is there someone who shows you kindness and respect?  Has someone helped you out?  Is there someone you know who diligently strives to live the Christian life?  Have you noticed an expression of pain or discouragement?  Were you part of a conversation that put down a fellow believer?  These are precisely the opportunities that God puts before us each day.  These are our opportunities to choose Gods way an opportunity to witness for His sake.

Pauls final instructions were these: (v. 16-18), Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus.
