The Principals Corner

The Lord looks down on humankind

to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

Psalm 14:2

Take a moment and ponder this verse.  Right now, what is God seeing as He looks down on you?  Is He seeing someone who understands?  Are you one that seeks Him?  What if He had checked on you last night during your conversation with a friend?  Did that conversation reflect your intent to seek God in all things?  Remember last Sunday morning; surely that was a time that showed that you were one who understands and seeks Him.

This is such an awesome consideration!  Lets challenge ourselves!  Shall we pause three times each day for the next week and reflect on what God saw when He looked down on us to see if we understand and seek Him.  Do you journal?  This challenge might provide some meaningful writing.

Mrs. Kobellas brother, Mr. David McNeil, passed away on Monday.  Please remember the Kobella family (Danielle, grade 2; Mariah, grade 4; Kara, grade 6;)  in your prayers as they mourn his loss.

We ask that you continue to pray for all Lutheran schools throughout the United States and especially for West Park Lutheran School , its parents, and staff.  In addition, please remember Heidi Walkush, our Speech Therapist as she confronts some personal challenges.

Continue to pray for Linda Ferros father, Mr. George Lambert who had surgery last week and is now recovering in a Columbus hospital; and Mr. Hink who is now home recuperating from the stroke he suffered.

If you have any prayer requests, call the school office so that we can let our school families and friends know.

REPORT CARDS

The third grading period ends today.  Report cards will be released to all students whose accounts are current.  This includes tuition, extended care, graduation fees, candy, and money from the first Zap-A-Snack sale.  Notices were sent to those parents who have an account balance according to our records.  If you have any questions regarding your account, please call the school office.

TARGET

In connection with the Target Take Charge of Education School Fundraising Program, West Park Lutheran School received a check for $76.81.  Target donates 1% of Target Visa and Target Guest Card purchases made at Target or at target.com to eligible schools designated by purchasers.  For more information about this program call 1-800-316-6142.

POLICY CHANGE

Beginning next year our Uniform Dress Policy will change slightly.  Red shirts, along with white and light blue will be acceptable.  No logos will be allowed on shirts.  Also, tan uniform pants as well as black and navy blue may be worn.  The pants must be of uniform style with no pockets below the waist.  Skorts will be allowed year-round.

Please remember that this policy will be in effect beginning with the 2004-2005 school year.

PAINTING

Attention, painters!  If you missed the painting party at Mt. Calvary last weekend, you have another chance.  Once again, beginning at 9:00 AM you can help with the renovation for the 2004-2005 school year.  No supplies are needed only willing and able bodies.  Just show up.  No applications necessary!

PIZZA LUNCH

The Pizza Lunch is a service provided to our students by the P.T.L.  Mrs. Geye has served faithfully as its coordinator.  Since she has taken a new position, we need someone to coordinate our pizza lunches.  (Only three pizza lunches remain in this school year.) Without a volunteer, the pizza lunches we provide will no longer continue.  Currently the next lunch is scheduled for Friday, April 2nd.  If you would like to volunteer to serve West Park Lutheran School students in this way, please call the school office within the next week.

GLEANORS

A few gleanors have made their way back to the school office.  Our suggestion was to fill in one quarter during the rest of the Lenten season, so we really dont expect them back until Maundy Thursday.  Please be sure to put your childs name and room number on the back before sending them in.  If you wish you may simply write a check for the total amount.  The money collected will be sent to Christ Lutheran Church of the Deaf right here in Cleveland .  Call the school office if you have any questions.

CHEERLEADERS

Cheerleaders need to turn in their uniforms skirt and vest -  to Mrs. Vinson, no later than Thursday, March 25th.  Cheerleaders, if you have any questions or concerns, please speak to Mrs. Vinson.

3. Our next PTL meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 PM at Bethany English Lutheran Church .  Mr. Oerkfitz will speak on the topic How to Save Money for Your Kids College Education.  Grade 5 is responsible for refreshments.

APRIL WALK-A-THON

Were still looking for sponsors for the April 24 Walk-A-Thon.  Sponsor sheets were attached to the last few Page Twenty-threes.  Additional sheets are available from your childs teacher.

Our goal is $5000.  There are other Cleveland Lutheran schools participating, so lets get out there early.  We need lots of volunteers to help with the snacks (water, fruit, granola bars, etc.) for the walk.  If you know of someone who may have a connection to a snack food supply and would be willing to donate some items, call the school office.

YEARBOOK

A limited supply of yearbook order forms are available in the school office.

If you own a business or know someone who would like to advertise a business, contact the office about current prices.
